Why Leadership Matters

Even in Local Republican Party Politics Leadership is the difference in success and failure

Bill Michie, Candidate for Fort Bend County Republican Party Chairman, asks for your vote for the upcoming March 1, 2016 Primary Election.

The position of Chairman is a significant leadership role, and effective, results oriented leadership does matter.  Leaders know how to tap into the political passions of precinct chairs, volunteers, and Republican Party members.

A well functioning and performing organizational structure is critical to future success.  We need a chairman that will follow Republican Party rules and Republican Party by-laws to be effective and successful.

Elections are won with great candidates and effective grass roots organizations.  The grass root volunteers and precinct chairs must be trained, developed, motivated and inspired. The current chairman just does not have the skills, time and ability needed to get that done.

Our current leadership has failed to meet the criteria of our by-laws in many areas, including lack of committee meetings and communication with the Executive Committee and the public.  The website has not been updated for the last two years, with old precinct chairs still being listed, and even elected officials remain unchanged for two years! The current Party Chairman Mike Gibson is ultimately responsible for Party leadership, and leadership does matter!

New leadership is the answer.  Elect Bill Michie as County Chairman, on March 1, 2016.  Visit his website at http://www.vote4bill.net or on Facebook for more information.

Republican Party Needs Volunteers

To Win Elections, a grass roots effort is mandatory for success

Just ask Ted Cruz!  How did Ted recently pull off an upset victory in Iowa, ahead of favorite Donald Trump?  With his grassroots efforts on the ground! He had thousands of volunteers, walking neighborhoods, making phone calls, handing out literature, etc. and it worked!  Cruz beat Trump by 4%!

Now how, you may ask, does this relate to local party politics?  Current Fort Bend County Texas Chairman, Mike Gibson lacks the time and the skills needed to recruit, organize, and motivate volunteers.  So what is his solution?  He hires people to do the work that volunteers have always done in previous elections.  2 years ago, rather than taking the time to recruit volunteers, he hired paid staff to walk precincts, staff the headquarters, distribute materials, in other words, to do the work previously done by volunteers.

What is different about this election cycle?  The Republican Party of Fort Bend County does not have enough money to hire paid staff.  We are currently burning through $4,000 per month for paid staff and rent at our current headquarters, and our last fundraiser might have netted enough money to pay the bills through the November election, which leaves nothing for candidates or election efforts in this cycle.

How do we fix it?  New leadership is the answer. Bill Has the time and skills to get things fixed. Elect Bill Michie as County Chairman, on March 1, 2016.  Visit his website at http://www.vote4bill.net or on Facebook for more information.

Republican Party to start providing Monthly Financial Statements

But, only if you elect Bill Michie as the Republican County Chairman on March 1, 2016

For the last 4 years, the Republican Executive Committee has not received written financial reports as outlined in the by-laws.  The by-laws state that the treasurer shall submit a financial report to the Executive Committee within 30 days of the end of each quarter, and shall also reconcile on a monthly basis all bank accounts owned by the party.  The current FBC County Chairman has stated that he does not want to release financial records because he does not want the Democrats to see how we spend our money, but problem is that the Republicans don’t know how we spend our money either.  A cornerstone of Republican Party politics is open records and transparency.  Bill Michie will return the party to this foundation.

Neither the monthly statement nor the quarterly statements have been done for four years.  Although the reports are the responsibility of the party treasurer, this ultimately is a failure of leadership of our current county chairman, Mike Gibson, and needs to be corrected.  How do we correct it?  Elect Bill Michie as County Chairman, on March 1, 2016.  Visit his website at http://www.vote4bill.net or on Facebook for more information.
